Who should buy the Salomon Aero Volt ?

Someone who is in search for a shoe that can be used for everything. It’s lightweight to handle both fast paces and slow paces.

Who should not buy the Salomon Aero Volt ?

People who don’t want to spend $150 USD on a daily trainer as there are other options on the market that are much cheaper. And also for runners that are looking for more protection and cushion.

Salomon Aero Volt Introduction

Picture of Salomon Aero Volt

The Salomon Aero Volt is a lightweight daily trainer that is more than that.

The shoe is very versatile and can handle both easy paces and fast paces.

The shoes upper and sole units are so light that that the shoe is only 7.7 ounces for a men’s US size 9.

Although the sole units feel significantly different on foot, both the Brooks Revel and the Salomon Aero Volt are comparable shoes that can be utilized in many different ways.

At $150 USD the Salomon Aero Volt can be used as your everyday shoe if you are on a tight budget.

Salomon Aero Volt First Impressions

Picture of Salomon Aero Volt

When I first opened the box and picked them up I couldn’t believe how light they were.

I was fairly impressed and wondered how I would use this shoe as this shoe was labeled as a daily trainer.

When I first put them on both my feet I knew this shoe was more than just a daily trainer.

I went out for my first run and I really enjoyed testing different paces with the shoes. The shoe felt great for me at any pace.

Salomon Aero Volt Upper

Picture of Salomon Aero Volt

I wear a shoe size US 11.5 and the fit was true to size. The upper uses a single layer mesh that is very breathable and translucent.

The underlays, which they call the Sensifit, are designed to keep the shoe structured and secured around your feet.

The toe box area had enough room for my toes as there was no irritations of any sorts during any of my runs. The tongue is very thin and is not gusseted. It has very little padding but just enough to protect the top of your feet.

The shoe laces are far too long. So long that I had to weave the rest of the laces through the eyelets. And finally, the heel counter has some serious structure to it. Very little padding but you feel your heel and ankles locked in.

Salomon Aero Volt Sole Unit

Picture of Salomon Aero Volt

The midsole unit uses what is called ENERGYFOAM, which is a material that combines using both EVA and Olefin (OBC).

The feel of midsole on your feet does not feel bottom heavy whatsoever. It feels light to where you feel like you have a pep to your step. The ride of the midsole is neither soft nor firm, just a neutral feel.

The outsole uses what is called their Contagrip, which are really wide and thin lugs that cover almost the entire unit. The outsole grips very well and is very durable as I was to run comfortably on wet and slippery surfaces during one of my runs .

Another feature with the outsole are the cutouts that makes the sole unit even lighter.

Salomon Aero Volt Conclusions

The Salomon Aero Volt would be a shoe I would buy again. If you are in search for an everyday shoe that you can use for anything, such as your daily runs and/or workouts, this could be the shoe for you.

I have ran over 120 plus miles so far and I find myself picking up this shoe over and over again.

It’s great for any weather conditions and so far the outsole hasn’t had any noticeable wear and tear on them.
