They are for someone who wants a high-quality shoe that can perform various needs without spending an arm and a leg.
They are not for the runner looking for a long-distance running shoe. It can be used for short to mid-distance runs but once you enter into those double digits you’ll start to notice the lack of responsiveness.
This is Nike’s 11th iteration of the Winflo and I can firmly say that they are indeed an improvement from the 10’s.
You can find them for $104.99. Which is a steal for what you get. It’s a budget-friendly daily trainer that can be used for almost everything. They are similar to the famous Nike Pegasus but for a fraction of the cost.
It’s loaded with Nike’s top-of-the-line technology. You’ll notice the responsive cushioning right away that is perfectly balanced to make sure your ride is smooth. The Cushlon 3.0 foam and the full-length Nike Air unit in the midsole will give you great energy return in each step.
On top of that, they have an ultra-supportive elastic midfoot band that secures your foot. It has a single-layer engineered mesh upper that allows for comfort and maximum breathability.
It weighs in at 8.9 oz for women and 11.4 oz for men. Which is slightly lighter than the Winflo 10s and has a 9.1 mm heel-to-toe drop.
Nike is also becoming more and more environmentally friendly and the Winflo 11 is made with at least 20% recycled content by weight.
Let me tell you, they have come a long way since the 8’s.
Opening the box for the first time I noticed right away how squared off the heel was. In past models, the heel was more rounded or pointed. It was a good surprise that was pleasing to look at. It gives it a more modern look to them.
The next thing I noticed was how nice the upper material looked. Nike has been doing a great job each year upgrading the Winflo.
Lacing them up for the first time I noticed instantly noticed how plush they felt. The tongue has extra padding so once you tie them up, you’ll experience an all-over comfort
My first run in them was a 5k on the treadmill. Right out of the box and onto my feet I experienced no discomfort.
There is no need for a break in period. I did notice how much more room I had in the toe box area.
Another area I took notice to was the midsole. It felt more padded and this can be attributed to an additional insole that gives you just a little more comfort.
The upper is made out of an engineered mesh material that gives your foot an overall plush feel. This upper is very similar to the Winflo 10 but has a little more thickness to it yet still very breathable. Looking at them, they give off a well-to-do status. For a budget-friendly shoe, this one delivers in every area.
Nike has given the Winflo more room in the forefoot and a wider heel. This is perfect for all-day wear, especially when your feet start to swell a little.
Another addition that is key to Winflo’s amazing lockdown is the elastic midfoot band. It keeps your foot in the right place.
Moving back towards the heel counter you will notice how nicely padded and built up it is. You’ll have a great locked-in place fit and I experience no problems with slipping or rubbing.
Lastly, the tongue is more padded with this model than any of the previous ones. This creates a comfortable fit when the laces are tightly secured into place. There is no added pressure on the top of the foot.
The sole of the Winflo is noticeably thick. This is due to the Nike Air unit and the Cushlon 3.0 foam that runs the length of the shoe.
It’s nicely responsive and will provide you with a balanced run/ walk. I will say that when I started to run past 5 miles, I would notice that they just seemed to be blah.
Nothing is making them give me more pep in my step for those longer distances like the Nike Pegasus or the Asics Gel Kayano. Both of these shoes offer comfort, stability, and responsiveness for miles.
The Nike Winflo 11 is a neutral trainer, and it’s not designed for those needing extra stability. It can handle mild pronators but there are other stability shoes available that would best suit people of that necessity.
The outsole is rubber and has a waffle pattern to it. Its traction over all types of terrain is superb.
I tested them out on road, gravel, turf, and grass and didn’t have any problem with slipping. I have used them for well over 50 miles and the outsole has shown little to no wear.
The Nike Winflo 11 is a great choice for those who are looking for a comfortable everyday trainer.
It’s a shoe of many hats that is capable of performing as a running shoe for short distances, training sessions in the gym, or just for daily errands.
If you’re in the market for a high-quality shoe that can be used daily and I mean you can wear them ALL DAY, with zero problems? Then look no further, go ahead and snag yourself a pair of the Winflos and you will not be disappointed.
