The first Nike Pegasus was launched in 1983. It was the first shoe to feature an Air Wedge, a heel-only air unit, so it was originally called the Air Wedge Trainer. Nike renamed it the Pegasus, after the winged horse to represent movement, quickness and the allure of flying.
Since then, the Pegasus has established itself as one of the most durable, versatile, dependable and widely available running shoes in the world.
However, the Pegasus 37 was a polarising shoe because its narrow-fitting upper and loose heel gave many runners problems and left them looking elsewhere for their daily training needs.
Nike is hoping to win back Pegasus loyalists with the brand new Air Zoom Pegasus 38.
What’s New on the Pegasus 38?
- The tongue is more padded and is no longer attached to an inner sleeve.
- A softer and more breathable sandwich mesh is designed to provide more comfort and better performance.
- A midfoot webbing system allows a more personalised fit for every runner.
- A new last that provides more toe box room and a fit similar to Pegasus models before the 37th version.
