This shoe is made for easy running miles because it’s comfortable and provides a lot of cushioning, therefore making your landing very soft. Traction is reliable even on a rainy day. It would definitely be a good option to have on your “shoe rotation”.
This shoe is not built for performance. If you’re planning on doing speedwork or hitting the track, this will not be the right shoe for you. If you overpronate this is not a great choice shoe as it has very limited stability.
The Solar Glide 6 is a neutral daily trainer built for easy miles. It definitely ranks up there for being a highly cushioned shoe with light / limited stability. I would compare this to the Asics Cumulus.
I immediately felt like this shoe was pretty bulky. I was fully expecting this shoe to feel heavy when I was running in it, and I was pleasantly surprised it wasn’t as bad as my initial impressions.
Upper contains a minimum of 50% recycled content. The adidas LEP 2.0 guides each foot strike to propel you forward. It has a 10mm midsole drop.
It will protect you from light rain and it’s also very breathable. It will also keep you warm during colder temps as it’s properly insulated.
The shoe itself felt like it took some time to break in. It didn’t immediately feel as comfortable as some of the other daily trainers that I am used too.
After about 20 miles I did learn to love this shoe a lot more. So don’t expect to jump into this shoe and immediately love it.
I also realized this shoe does really well on the treadmill! About half of my miles reviewing this shoe were on the treadmill while the other half were on the road.
The overall fit is pretty good! I will absolutely be keeping this shoe in rotation, and I particularly favor it for treadmill use and walking.
Fortunately, I have narrow feet, so this fit was ideal for me. The arch support was also decent for individuals that have higher aches. I use a custom orthotic that I was easily able to insert without making the shoe any less comfortable.
I would not recommend this shoe for an individual who has wider feet. It could potentially cause blisters or even make your feet fall asleep. Luckily, I did not encounter any of those issues.
The shoe is very aesthetically pleasing to look at. The colors are very bright and vibrant and fun to coordinate with my other running apparel.
